Open Championship Golf Tournament At Lytham
15th-22nd July 2012
Next year the Open Championship Golf Tournament will be coming to Lytham & St. Annes, for the first time since 2001. The tournament will bring big names, such as this year's champion Darren Clarke. As you can imagine, we're all looking forward to this spectacular event.

'Beatz Meetz Community Drum Circle' is a non-profit Community Music Group that meet once a week. We gather as a group each Thursday (between 7pm and 9pm) and play all kinds of percussion instruments: The first hour is used up learning a number of different rhythms - with the aim to perform them as a group in the summer. After a break the remaining time is taken up with a free-rolling improvisation session - The only aim being to ''keep the music flowing'' members can add as much or as little as they feel during the improv. Drums and other instruments are provided Your first session is *FREE* and only £2 There after.

The Walks starts and finishes at Marton Mere and is not suitable for wheelchair users. Walk 1 is approximately 30 minutes is easy on uneven footpaths. Walk 2 is approximately 60 minutes is moderate on uneven footpaths. There is slight gradient on footpaths. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

Overnight Ghost Tour of North Pier (24/02/2012)

Work began on the first of Blackpool’s three piers, the North Pier, in 1862. It was opened on 21st May 1863, witnessed by around 20,000 visitors to the resort. A landing jetty was added to the main structure in 1864 and three years later the pier was extended further. Two pleasure steamers offered excursions to the Lake District, Isle of Man, Llandudno, Southport and Liverpool. In 1874 the pier head was enlarged to accommodate the pavilion, a bandstand, restaurant and shops, and in 1875 and 1877 extended yet again with the installation of electric lighting. The Theatre was added in 1903, however it, along with the pavilion were destroyed. The current 1500 seat theatre, built on the site in 1939, survives only through the quick reactions of one of its entertainers. In 1985 singer Vince Hill noticed smoke when leaving the North Pier and, having raised the alarm, assisted in fighting the blaze. Grade II listed, the North Pier is considered the most traditional of the three Blackpool piers, retaining much of its Victorian splendour and is devoted to the gentler pursuits of promenading and sun bathing rather than the brasher entertainment offered by its newer companions. Visit the haunted dressing room, learn of the Victorian lady, sit in the haunted seat in the theatre's auditorium and investigate the spooky storeroom.

Following the success of Gaz Jenkins & Friends in November, Red 2 Theatre Company return to Lawrence House Studio with a special production for all the romantics out there. This intimate show will feature performances from Gaz Jenkins, as well as Red 2 Theatre Company favourites Emma Norman and Charlotte Dalton. The trio will also be joined on stage by some new members to the company.
